A worn chain can cause all kinds of problems. Chain wear can cause skipping or slipping under a load such as climbing a hill or accelerating from a stop sign. Shifting performance can decrease. Worse, it can snap, causing you to fall and potentially leave you stranded in a hot desert. Over its life, a chain can stretch causing wear to your other drivetrain parts like your chain and cassette. If you delay replacing a worn chain you may need to replace these parts as well. We recommend replacing your chain every 2500 miles depending on how you maintain it and your riding style. Rusty chains will wear very fast and wear out your other parts too. Electric Bikes can blow through chains due to the increased load caused by the power assist.
